‘Mondeo’ is an all male hybrid that is suitable for both spring and autumn planting. This versatile variety has created huge interest due to its impressive yields and quality, especially early in the season. The delicious spears have tight tips throughout the season, with excellent flavour and good disease resistance. Suited to temperate climates, with a superb flavour characterised by very high sugar and very low fibre levels, their sweetness and tenderness are second to none. This particular variety has a higher tolerance to Fusarium when compared to other types. To allow optimum development cut spears sparingly the following year of planting. A planting depth of 20cm is recommended English grown asparagus has a taste and flavour that is unique and increasingly sought after.
