Chesnok Wight (allium sativum ophioscorodon - hardneck). Full flavoured hardneck from the Southern Ukraine on the Black Sea. Flavour close to that of Purple Heritage Moldovan.An ancient type probably introduced by herdsmen off the Steppes & propagated by the Sarmatian's. Produces attractive rocamboles or floral spikes that should be snapped off & enjoyed roasted or stir fried. Plant from September - January, harvest mid June onwards.
