Music & Tapas Evenings - Wednesday 14th February - Anwen Mai Thomas, Harpist
Join us at The Garlic Farm Restaurant for our monthly tapas & music evenings. We are very pleased to be hosting a series of professional musicians for recitals throughout 2024 in collaboration with Wight Proms Wednesdays.
Our first of these special evenings is on 14th February when we are joined by Anwen Mai Thomas, Harpist. What could be more romantic for a Valentine's evening than beautiful harp music?
Award-winning harpist Anwen Mai Thomas studied at the Royal Academy of Music where she was awarded the ‘Harp Prize for the highest recital mark’ at her MA graduation in 2023, along with a DipRAM. As a dynamic, diverse performer, with professional solo, orchestral and chamber experience, Anwen is honoured to have gained the ‘Foyle Future First’ harp position with the London Philharmonic Orchestra for 2023-24. She has performed with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, including at their BBC Proms concert, and recently played with Southbank Sinfonia. Anwen’s numerous solo performances include a recital for the Elgar Society and solo with the Cheltenham Chamber orchestra. She has recently become a Live Music Now musician, where she looks forward to meeting participants from all walks of life to create music together and to showcase the versatility of the harp.
(NB we were to be joined by Mary Reid, Harpist but she had to pull out due to illness)
The restaurant will be open from 6pm serving a tapas menu until 7.30pm with 40 minute recital starting at 7.30pm. The bar will be open throughout.
